Whale Rider Teen Gives Birth
Keisha Castle-Hughes has traded whale riding for stork welcoming. The 17-year-old "Whale Rider" star gave birth to a baby girl last Wednesday in New Zealand, her publicist confirmed today. Felicity-Amore checked in at 7 pound, 6 ounces. Both newborn and new mom are doing well, according to a statement from Castle-Hughes and the baby's father Bradley Hull, 19, the actress' boyfriend. Castle-Hughes made waves when she announced her pregnancy last year at age 16, just before her turn as the Virgin Mary in "The Nativity Story" hit the big screen. Her status as an unmarried pregnant teen drew ire from the media and several conservatives. "I felt like I had to hide," she said recently in an interview with Television New Zealand. "I felt like it was bad for me to be happy about it." Still, Castle-Hughes was able to ride out the media glare, telling reporters in her native New Zealand that "if it wasn't meant to happen now, it wouldn't have happened now."
