'Marley' Bites Competition to Win Holiday Box Office
Jennifer Aniston 's dog comedy 'Marley & Me' made an estimated $37 million in weekend ticket sales, lifting the movie's total gross to $51.7 million since it opened Christmas Day. The Twentieth Century Fox film — also starring Owen Wilson , Alan Arkin , Eric Dane and Kathleen Turner — already broke the record for the highest grossing film to ever open on December 25 when it brought in $14.7 million. The movie tells the story of a young couple in love that decides to bring home an adorable, but mischievous puppy named Marley . Finishing at No. 2 for the weekend — with an estimated $28.1 million — was Adam Sandler 's family comedy 'Bedtime Stories,' a Disney film about a hotel handyman whose life changes when the bedtime stories he tells his niece and nephew start to magically come true.
